How can you tell if Air Max 95’s are fake? - The Block P

In today's day and age we have to be extremely careful when it comes to fakes. The amount of counterfeit Air Max 95s is on the rise year by year, as the demand for the shoe increases, fraudsters and scammers are also trying to profit from this. The quality of fakes is getting better over time so here are a few key takeaways to be mindful of when purchasing your 110s:

Smell - This may seem like an obvious one, but it's one that most people overlook. If you purchase a pair of 110s and the overriding smell when you put your nose inside the shoe is plastic, this is a telltale sign. It's not the sole factor and some models of the shoe may smell different to others, as some are made with leather.

Stitching - The stitching is usually off on counterfeit pairs. There tends to be stitching in places there wouldn’t usually be and it can often be in a different colour stitching to legitimate pairs.

Bubble - The bubble looks odd on counterfeit pairs. They usually have a big bubble and they are very hard when you squeeze them. This differs from authentic pairs as they have a bit of give when you squeeze them.

Back Tab - The back tab on counterfeits is usually significantly wider than that of legitimate Air Max 95s and the font of the “Nike Air” tends to be different.

Lace Loops - fake lace loops are usually wider than authentic ones. The colour tends to be slightly mismatched as well.

Box - The box and the label on a box can also be a giveaway. The writing on the box label will almost definitely be in a different font on a counterfeit, and it may be missing critical information like the style code of the shoe.

A lot of fakes nowadays are sent in counterfeit neon boxes, so if you are questioning whether your shoes are real and they have come in a suspicious looking neon box, and they aren't neons, chances are they are fake.

Tick - The placement of the tick can also be a giveaway sign. The tick on the outside heel of the shoe can often be placed in a different area on a counterfeit shoe. Also, check stock images for the real shoe to see if the tick is outlined and compare this to your pair.

Tongue - The tongue is often made of stiff, cheap material on counterfeits. The inside label on the tongue often will have the wrong style code on it, and it will most likely have a production date well after the shoe came out which is also another telltale sign. The font of the embodied "airmax" logo on the tongue can also be different to the real thing.

There are also a couple of other key things to keep in mind. If the price of the shoe seems too good to be true it often is. Purchase from places with good reputations, if you have never heard of the website before, and haven't done your research, buy at your own risk.
